Terms of Service

By creating an account or using Ask the Summa, you agree to these terms with Adder Analytics. If you are using Ask the Summa on behalf of an organization, you agree on its behalf and represent that you have authority to do so.

Ask the Summa is free. There are no subscriptions, payments, or ads.

You are responsible for your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Tell us promptly at support@adder.dev if you suspect unauthorized use.

Don’t misuse the service: no unlawful activity, no attempts to breach or probe security, no interfering with other users, and no reselling the service without our permission. We may suspend accounts that violate this section.

To keep Ask the Summa free for everyone, each account has a daily question allowance, and the service as a whole has a daily limit. Don’t try to get around these limits — for example by creating extra accounts or by sending automated requests.

Adder Analytics owns the service, including its software, design, and branding. These terms don’t grant you any rights in them except the right to use the service.

The content you create in Ask the Summa is the questions you ask. You keep any rights you have in them. You grant us the limited license needed to process them — to generate answers and to keep the logs described in our Privacy Policy — and nothing more.

The text of the Summa Theologiae shown in Ask the Summa is the 1920 English translation by the Fathers of the English Dominican Province, which is in the public domain. You may use the answers you receive for your own study.

Answers are written by a large language model speaking in the voice of Thomas Aquinas, using passages retrieved from the Summa. It is not Thomas Aquinas. Answers can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misstate what he taught. Citations are checked automatically, not by a person, so read the cited article before you rely on or quote an answer. Passages from the Supplement were compiled after Aquinas’s death and are labelled as such.

Answers are for study only. They are not religious, academic, or professional advice. You are responsible for how you use them.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Adder Analytics will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to US$50.

You can stop using Ask the Summa and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms; where practical, we will notify you first.

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Adder Analytics is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, communicated to you. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.
